The Van
Summer 2003
College Hunks Hauling Junk was born in the summer of 2003, when Nick and his best friend Omar hauled junk using an old cargo van. That summer, they did the hard labor themselves - and made $8,000. It was their first taste of entrepreneurship.
The Business Plan
Spring 2004
The business plan won the University of Miami’s Rothschild Entrepreneurship Competition. While other junk services had poor appearances and were local, they envisioned a fully branded, clean appearance, scalable national franchise.
The True Start
Spring 2005
After a few months in the corporate game, Nick and Omar decided that they wanted to turn CHHJ into a reality.
Thanks to the highly marketable brand and detailed operating systems, they supassed $1.2 million in annual sales in their second year.
The Franchise
Summer 2008
Once the system proved successful locally, Nick and Omar expanded to a national franchise, becoming the youngest franchisors in America at the time.
They relocated their national headquarters to Tampa FL to open a call center that would support their franchise owners.
